Since its founding in 1962 as one of the first community corrections halfway houses in New England, Community Solutions, Inc. (CSI) has grown to operate more than 60 programs and services in 10 states and Canada. In doing so, CSI offers a continuum of community-based services and programs for adult and youth clients. In addition, CSI has a training and resource center that provides services for federal, state, local and private agencies. CSI has approximately 450 employees and an annual operating budget of $35 million.
In 2019, CSI was approached by the leadership of Living in Safe Alternatives, Inc. (LISA, Inc.) to discuss a collaborative partnership. LISA’s services include an independent living home for girls, supervised apartments for teens (as well as for victims of human trafficking), and a Life Skills Academy to equip youth who reside with foster care families .
After an initial consolidation of administrative functions, both agencies’ boards agreed to a merger. As outlined in the merger agreement, CSI’s name was retained with the intention to fully integrate the strategic plan, mission, vision and values of the two organizations. The goal of rebranding was to further unify the organization, and DKA provided a guided integration process and plan for an updated agency logo, colors and messaging, along with new programs and services literature, and a redesigned website.
