DKA brands the Town of Mansfield as “your place to grow.”

Home to the University of Connecticut, Mansfield offers a blend of rural and suburban living in a large university setting. Downtown Storrs, a new mixed-use urban center, was completed in 2017. Mansfield has a variety of cultural and educational offerings, as well as an abundance of natural resources ideal for activities such as hiking, cycling, and kayaking.

In 2018, The Town of Mansfield requested proposals from qualified consultants to develop a positioning and marketing plan and a new website. DKA was selected for these projects, partly based on our prior experience developing a branding and marketing plan for Downtown Storrs and its development/management organization, the Mansfield Downtown Partnership.

The main objective of the overall Town branding plan is to position Mansfield as a great place to live, do business, work, learn, play, and visit. The goals are to stimulate growth in Mansfield’s resident population, enrollment in Mansfield Public Schools, business development and retention, and tax base.

DKA’s role was to design a market research and brand development process to engage Town employees, residents, visitors, and community and business stakeholders. The Positioning and Marketing Plan was inclusive of:

  • Research findings and assessment;
  • Logo, taglines and graphic usage standards and guidelines for the Town and entities;
  • Recommended messaging strategies and communications vehicles;
  • First-year launch plan and multi-year program recommendations.
  • Design and development of a new employee intranet site, as well as design of a new municipal website in collaboration with the developer CivicPlus.
  • Design and development of a printed and digital Town Guide as an informative resource on Mansfield to attract visitors, residents and businesses.
